After several experiments with projection systems for transferring designs to the ground at a large scale, I decided that at this juncture stenciling was the way to go for Ireland. It’s huge, 18 feet across, but has a six-fold repeating pattern around the outside. I cut a 9-foot paper stencil, and believe it or not, it worked, even in the gusty breeze out on the pier that day.
Bonus: the stencil survived and I can now make at least one more 18-foot celtic interlace circle on someone’s floor. Want one?
