The facilities staff at Google Cambridge is very involved in making the workplace interesting and fun. Their idea for two long walls was to create interactive coloring area for Googlers. I was happy to make this come true. One wall was based on freeform curves, and the other was a math-based string geometry sequence. Which one do you like best? I thought the mathy one would be the biggest hit, but the freeform curves got the most love. Just goes to show there’s no substitute for user testing.
String Art Geometry Wall
This one was done using string and nails to make circles, arcs, and triangles in a pleasing pattern. Note at the end that users defied the math and added all manner of whimsy to their coloring!
