In Buddhist symbolism, the lotus represents purity of body, speech and mind, as if floating above the murky waters of material world. The third eye of the Buddha sees enlightenment. This is a play on the actual flower, or Bua in Thai, whose seed head contains spherical pale seeds- here they are eyes that are in a state of seeing both this wold and the next- perhaps it makes them sleepy, or perhaps it’s in meditation.
This is an acrylic painting on masonite panel, framed with a fairly outrageous teal acrylic frame- I love the contrast it makes with the pink and yellow hues of the painting.
Painting is 4.75” x 11.25”, Framed: 10.75” x 18”
