Part of the Chinese section of the tattoos on the pier, commemorating the long history of trade with China that made Boston a successful port city, this detail shows a stylized bat, a traditional good luck symbol found on trade porcelains and textiles.

This detail photo of the installation has been printed on archival watercolor paper and mounted on an 8″ wood block, embellished with paint and sealed with a thick epoxy topcoat bound in copper edging.
